Ebola : Spanish Priest to be Treated with Experimental Drug ZMapp

The Roman Catholic priest, Miguel Pajares, who got infected with Ebola while working in Liberia will be treated with an experimental drug that has been used on two Americans infected with the deadly virus, the government said.

The drug called ZMapp arrived at Madrid’s La Paz-Carlos III hospital where the 75-year-old
missionary was being treated in isolation, the health ministry said in a statement late on Saturday.

Spain’s drug safety agency allowed the “exceptional importation” of ZMapp under a law that allows “the use of non-authorised medications in cases where a patent’s life is in danger and they can’t be treated satisfactorily with an authorised medication,” it said.

Miguel Pajares was one of three people who tested positive for Ebola at the Saint Joseph Hospital in the Liberian capital Monrovia where he worked. He was brought back to Spain on Thursday on a medically equipped Spanish airforce plane, the first patient in the fast-spreading Ebola outbreak to be evacuated to Europe for treatment.

Spanish health authorities said on Thursday the priest was in a stable condition. The hospital is not providing medical updates for the missionary at his request.

The military flight also evacuated Spanish nun Juliana Bonoha Bohe, 65, who worked at the same hospital as Pajares in Liberia and who was found not to have Ebola.

The Spanish charity Pajares worked for, the Hospitaller Brothers of St John of God, had asked Madridto bring to Spain for treatment two African missionaries infected with Ebola who also worked at the hospital but the request was turned down. One of those two missionaries, a Congolese nun, died on Saturday due to Ebola, the charity said.

I Can’t Beg A Man To Marry Me—Halima Abubakar

Click for Full Image SizeNollywood actress, Halima Abubakar, has said the reason for still being single is because she has not been able to get the right man to walk her to the altar.

The make-believe star explained that she cannot just settle down with anybody that comes her way, stressing that she does not want to rush into marriage and later rush out of it.

Halima pointed out that men have mistrust problem, which has even made some of them unable to identify a lady that truly loves them.

“There is lots of mistrust and we also have many irresponsible men so to speak. There are lots and lots of liars among men out there. And if they meet a girl that really loves them, they won’t know because they are used to lying,” she affirmed.

Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua announced in his service today that 4,000 bottles of his ‘Anointing Water’ had reached Sierra Leone and were received by ‘government officials’, to spiritually fortify the country in their fight against the deadly disease, Ebola.

According to the outspoken pastor, a private jet was chartered to the tune of $50,000 to convey the spiritual items to the Ebola-stricken nation yesterday.

An additional $50,000 was also given in humanitarian aid to the victims of the disease, courtesy of Joshua and his ‘Emmanuel TV Partners’.

Before ministering to foreign visitors at his ‘prayer line’ service, Joshua then gave a stern warning to Nigeria about the way the Ebola crisis was being handled.

“Ebola is not Nigeria's challenge,” he began. “Our challenge is insecurity. It is a strange ailment. That someone from another country for an ECOWAS meeting and died of Ebola does not mean Nigeria is not safe," he stated, adding that fear-mongering in the media was only making matters worse.

“To the extent we talk bad about Nigeria, to that same extent our name is destroyed,” the cleric defiantly continued, bemoaning the name Nigeria was being given in the international community because of the news projected.

“This is a country under repair because of what Boko Haram has done to the nation. Don’t damage it more. This nation is safe. If there is any challenge, we have what it takes to surmount it,” he stated, calling on Nigerians to learn from the way Ghana protected the name of their nation.

He added that two deaths recorded in the most populated African country from Ebola did not merit a state of emergency as announced by President Goodluck Jonathan. “All of this is propaganda,” Joshua angrily stated.

“When a little thing happens, you exaggerate it because you are looking for funds. How much can the international community give to us that can redeem the name Nigeria we are soiling? A beggar always remains a beggar. Africa, stop begging – you have what it takes to solve your problems.”

Joshua further decried the news that some African nations had closed their borders to the countries affected by the Ebola outbreak, stating that it negated the premise of African unity.

“What is the meaning of African unity? The wound of an African is the wound of all Africans. The wound of one is the wound of all. A nation that stands to solve the problem of other nations will become successful,” he added.

“We should rise up and see the wound of others as our wound. Stand up to the occasion and help instead of closing your borders against your African brothers.”

Joshua concluded that giving citizens proper education about the disease was important but the spread of the disease should not be maliciously exaggerated.

“That does not mean you should use it to destroy the name of Nigeria as if it is here. It’s not! Protection and prevention – that should be our assignment in Nigeria,” he said.

The fear of Ebola did not seem to deter foreigners flocking to The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) as nearly 2,000 visitors arrived in Nigeria this week alone to worship at the international church.

According to Joshua, the ‘Anointing Water’, has been anointed by God to bring healing and deliverance to people. His website boasts a large amount of testimonials from people who have ministered the water and received healing from a vast array of ailments.

Pregnant Woman Tests Positive To Ebola In Lagos

A pregnant woman who went for her usual check up at the First Consultant Hospital Obalande – same hospital that Patrick Sawyer was admitted -  is among the 9 who have tested positive to the virus, it was revealed on Friday.
She got infected after being treated by the same nurse, Obi Justina Ejelonu, who attended to the Liberian carrier, Patrick Sawyer.

It will be recalled that  two nurses came in direct contact with Mr. Sawyer and one of them died this week.Of the the two nurses, Justina is still alive.
The pregnant woman has since been quarantined at the mainland hospital where there is an isolation emergency centre for Ebola virus victims.

"Both FG And Lagos State Government Have Been Very Supportive"- Nurse Who Contracted Ebola Virus From Sawyer Opens Up On Ordeal

Obi Justina Ejelonu,a graduate of Ebonyi State University Abakaliki is the 2nd nurse who had contact with late Ebola victim Patrick Sawyer at First Consultant Hospital Obalende. The native of Mbaise in Imo State has now opened up about the ordeal. She said in a Facebook group:
“I never contacted his fluids. I checked his vitals, helped him with his food (he was too weak)…..I basically touched where his hands touched and that's the only contact. Not directly with his  fluids. At a stage, he yanked off his infusion and we had blood everywhere on his bed…..but the ward maids took care of that and changed his linens with great precaution. Every patient is treated as high risk …..if it were airborne, by now wahala for dey. I still thank God.
Friends, up to our uniforms n all linens were burnt off. We r on surveillance n off work till 11th. Our samples v long bn taken by WHO n so far we v been fine. For me, kudos to my hospital managt cos we work professionally wt every patient considered risk cos thats d training. Had it been it's a hospital where they manage ordinary gloves lik Govt hospital n some janjaweed private hosp..:lol….wahala for dey o. I must also thank Lagos Govt….infact! Even fed govt sef….all been supportive. I'm good n so r the others in d hosp…..”

Justina was among those who tested positive and is currently being quarantined at Mainland hospital Yaba Lagos alongside about 40 others.
Obi Justina Ejelonu
She is still alive and is said to be responding the treatment.

Before You Drink The Rumoured Salt & Water Ebola Cure - READ THIS

First it was bitter kola, now it is salt and water but a search through google would clearly show that none of these cure Ebola.
This is 2014 but going by the ease of gullibility and Nigeria’s ignorance per capita, this might as well be 1714 in Nigeria. Many reasons account for why we are such a gullible people but two main factors trump everything; our governments’ penchant to leave information gaps and the desperation of most of our religious fathers to be our all in all. It’d be fine if such realities were confined to private matters where people are privately fooled but misinformation has become a macro issue, it has gained commercial strength and as it is today, it has become a matter of life and death. Ebola is here and misinformation could end up killing more people before Ebola does.
First it was bitter kola, now it is salt and water but a search through google would clearly show that none of these cure Ebola. Even the ‘secret serum’ being tested by the United States has had a more effective use on Ebola than anything else but the Americans are not even daring to say ZMAPP cures Ebola. They live in 2014 unlike us so they know that until something is clinically proven to cure an ailment, it remains nothing but an experimental solution. We are not even close to calling our salt and water solution an experimental one because we have never tested it against Ebola. The age of social media, phones and BlackBerry/Whatsapp broadcasting has now meant that word of mouth, which used to be the most effective marketing tool in Nigeria has now gained technological power and has become even more powerful. Sadly though, these broadcasts are often not true.
On its day, Google is quite fast but no matter how fast Google is, it really does appear the spread of ignorance in Nigeria would always be faster than Google. Ignorance seems to spread at the speed of light in Nigeria. One moment it is bitter kola, then you are up the next morning, faced with a battle to kill another round of misinformation; boiled water and salt.
Ebola at the moment has no cure. Even if you drink a river full of water mixed with 100 bags of salt, if you come in contact with the body fluids of an infected person, you are in danger of contracting the Ebola virus. As you can see, it is not such a difficult thing to prevent Ebola from spreading. Vigilance and obsessive attention to your personal hygiene, coupled with a clean environment prevents Ebola. As a people, we love difficult solutions but it doesn’t have to be. The Ebola virus cannot survive disinfectants, heat, direct sunlight, detergents and soaps. Just make sure to always clean up your body and your environment.
Bush meat may be carrying the virus, avoid bush meat and suya for now. Restrict yourself to food prepared at home. Avoid unnecessary contact with people at the moment. Rodents can be carriers of Ebola. Fumigate your environment and dispose of the carcasses properly! Dead bodies can still transmit Ebola. Don’t touch them without protective gear or avoid them altogether. Protect Yourself. Use protective gear if you must care or go near someone you suspect has Ebola. Report any suspicious symptoms in yourself or anyone else IMMEDIATELY you notice them. Don’t delay! Educate Everyone. Tell your neighbours, colleagues and domestic staff. You’re safer when everyone is educated about Ebola.
Ebola has no cure, its fatality rate is as high as 90%. Bitter kola does not cure Ebola, boiled water and salt do not prevent nor cure Ebola. No other solution does too. Nothing the Nigerian Misinformation Committee (NMC) comes up with in the next coming days cures Ebola. With Ebola, your best ‘cure’ is prevention. There is no known cure for now. The closest ‘cure’ is still at an experimental stage and it is not yet in Nigeria. Please save this country from the merchants of misinformation, broadcast this message on your phones and tell your friends and family. Visit Ebola Facts to learn more on Ebola and follow #FactsOnEbola on Twitter. If those of us who know better refuse to be committed to informing the people, merchants of misinformation will bridge that gap with misinformation. It could be costly. With Ebola, everyone deserves to know the facts now! The Lagos State Ebola helplines are live and they are free. This is the easiest to remember, Call 0800-EBOLA-HELP (0800326524357) to know more or to report suspected cases.

“The Financial Reporting Council is not through with Sanusi” | The Executive Secretary is not backing down

Mr Obazee replied that if Sanusi sued as the CBN governor, the CBN would act on his behalf but if an individual sues in his own name then he cannot be suing on behalf of the organization and further iterated that the issue was for the court to decide.
If you thought the battle between the federal government and its former Central Bank governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was over, well think again. In a recent Interview with Geoff Iyatse of the Guardian Newspapers Edition, Jim Obazee, the current Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) which indicted the governor earlier this year, released a bombshell. According to him, the FRC is not through with Sanusi, who was suspended on 20 February this year and who is currently Emir of Kano.
According to Obazee, the case withdrawn by the former governor was the case against the President, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP). He further stated that the case against the FRC is still ongoing and that the FRC has appealed the Ruling of the lower court.
In his words:
“You mentioned that Sanusi has withdrawn his case. The case he withdrew is not the one with FRC, but the one he has with the President, the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police. That of FRC is appealed, where we are asking the court to look at our concerns on the matter. The determination of the court will establish the next turn of events. We should not forget that FRC was investigating the Central Bank and not individuals employed in CBN, including Sanusi. We are reviewing its financial statement, and if the Appeal Court says we should go and complete our work there, we will.”
According to him, the FRC did not investigate Sanusi but the CBN.

He also referred to a case between the FRC and the popular Eko Hotel in Lagos over the latter’s financial statement. He replied that although the commission lost at the lower court, the matter has been appealed against. He explained that the FRC Act defined both public entities and entities in general by virtue of section 77 of the Act.
According to him, if Eko Hotel is not a public entity, it is at least an entity and by virtue of the FRC Act, the powers of the FRC extends to entities.
He further pointed that Section 44(1) of FRC provides that a report made by a professional on the audited accounts of an entity was be in accordance with the FRC Act and that Section 11(d) of the same Act gives the FRC the powers to ensure the accuracy of financial statement of entities. While the matter is being appealed, he said, Eko Hotels must comply with the FRC Act.

Meet the man who injected ACID into his face to look like Michael Jackson (PHOTOS)

Oh, lawd.
A 32-year-old Michael Jackson impersonator, Antonio Gleidson Rodrigues, has injected ‘hyaluronic acid’ into his face to whiten his face to bear a close resemblace to the late King of pop.
MJ Wannabee7
The Brazilian man, Rodrigues has spent £2,000 on a series of cosmetic procedures and has even had rhinoplasty to imitate his late idol’s botched nose job.
He spends around four hours rehearsing his dance moves and one and a half hours applying make up on a daily basis to make perfect his MJ look. At some point, he even underwent surgery to attain the same voice of Jackson’s.

He said, “In 2009 I went into the operating theatre and had my nasal septum corrected which allowed me to reach the higher notes. I wasn’t able to reach notes like Michael before but after surgery I can now sing some notes in falsetto.”
But Rodrigues says he is not done with trying to look exactly like Michael Jackson, saying he hopes to do more surgeries as soon as he can afford them.

“If I can afford it in the future, I am thinking of working on my cheekbones so I can get rid of the wrinkles along my mouth – I also want to have my eyebrows arched. I would like to have my forehead tattooed and have my nose made even slimmer,” he said.

How 22-year-old man drowned in Third Mainland Bridge lagoon, abandoned by friends

third-mainland-bridge lagoon
Sule Jimoh, a 22-year-old man, has drowned in the Lagoon River on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, after a picnic outing with his friends on Sunday, 3 August.
His friends and witnesses of the incident, Seun Atoyede, Habeeb Balogun and Adewale Adigun, initially attempted to run away from the scene of the drowning, but were stopped and caught by residents of the area, who immediately alerted the police.
Policemen attached to the Yaba Police Division, would subsequently arrest the three boys.
A family member who went to the scene of the incident could not find any trace of Jimoh, only managing to recover his shirt and trouser, which were said to have been picked from the bank of the Lagoon.
However, a female member of the family who spoke to Punch, said the police must thoroughly interrogate the victim’s friends to know what really happened.
She said, “The boy was a very devout Muslim and very committed. He had only finished from the mosque that day when his friends came and said he should follow him out to Rowe Park. Initially, he didn’t want to follow them, but he yielded, after they pressed him to go with them.”
The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Lelma Kolle, confirmed the incident and also the arrest of the three suspects.
He said, “The three friends have been arrested and are with the police. Nobody can tell exactly what happened to the boy, because we have not even seen his corpse. But the report is that he drowned in the river.”

How man strangled his mother-of-5 lover to death, stole her car and gave ‘thanksgiving’ in church (PICTURED)

A 31-year-old man, who allegedly strangled Njideka Lizzy Nzewe, his 39-year-old business woman lover to death in her apartment at Green Estate, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, says that he killed her out of sheer jealousy.
The murder suspect, Kelechi Williams, was paraded yesterday, 6 August, at the Lagos State Police Command, after he was arrested at the border between Ghana and Cote D’Ivore by operatives from the Area ‘E’ Command, Festac Town in collaboration with those of International Police, INTERPOL.
Kelechi, who was apprehended while fleeing with the deceased’s Range Rover Sports Utility Vehicle, revealed that the incident happened on 19 July, at about 2 am during a heated lovers’ quarrel between him and his late lover.
He narrated the series of events that led to the altercation, and her subsequent death;
“Lizzy was my girlfriend. I knew her three years ago. But we started getting serious in February this year. I came back from Ghana to visit her on July 16, 2014 which was on a Wednesday. The next day we went out and came back late. On Friday, she told me to stay back at home and rest because I was tired. She left the house, saying she was going to the new apartment she was to pack into, assuring me she would be back as usual by 6 p.m.”
“But she did not return by 6pm. Rather, the gate man came with a power generating set, saying madam had gone to drop the workers. When it was 8 p.m. and I did not see her, I started calling her on phone but she did not pick. I called her up to 30 times without response. She came back by midnight and when I asked why she did not pick my calls, she said the phone was in silent mode. I brought out my phone and called her line only for it to ring.”
“At that point I noticed she was drunk. I got angry and asked if that was the way she would pay me back for leaving everything in Ghana to come and spend time with her. I threatened to quit the relationship. But at that point, her phone rang and I told her to pick it but she insisted that I should pick it and when I did, the caller, who was a male, asked ‘baby are you home?”
“Immediately she discovered it was a male’s voice, she snatched the phone from me and asked why I should pick her calls. I reminded her of a similar incident when she came to visit me in Ghana and my phone rang. She pick it and on discovering it was a female, she smashed the phone on the ground, without knowing who the caller was.
“I reminded her also that she collected my other phones from me and brought them to Nigeria. In anger, I took the phone and smashed it on the ground.”
“Before I knew it, she threw my things outside, saying I should leave her house. I told her to give me the N300,000 she borrowed from me to buy an air conditioner, if she wanted me to leave but she said she had no money with her and gave me her ATM card which she said had just N140,000.
“At a point, she slapped me and we started fighting. She held on to my manhood and started stretching it. That was when I held the wrapper that was around her neck and used it to strangle her, thereby forcing her to let go my manhood. She fell down and became motionless. Immediately, I took her three phones, ATM card and went outside to meet the gate man to see me off to any ATM machine, where I withdrew N100,000.”
“I dropped the gateman at home, and told him I was going to pump the tyre. At that point, I knew I was in trouble. I did not go back to her house for fear of being arrested. I drove straight to Mile Two, from where I picked a driver who drove me down to Ghana. I spent some days in Ghana before I decided to leave for Cote d’Ivoire, where unfortunately I was arrested.”
“I never wanted to kill her. I have never fought in my life, let alone kill somebody. I did not also steal her jewellery and N8 million as claimed by the Police. The only money I withdrew was N100,000 and her phone.”

How to get your ex-girlfriend back from another man – pronto

These methods require you to do things in a very subtle way, so that your ex-girlfriend doesn’t entirely realize what you’re doing… but in the end, they’ll put her back in your arms.
If you were already working toward getting back together with an ex girlfriend, learning that she’s dating again can be devastating.  While most guys do give up at this point, your chances of getting back with her are far from over.  If you’re willing to be patient, think positive, and put in some quality effort?  You can actually use your ex girlfriend’s new romance to launch yourself back into her life, getting her to break up with or forget her new boyfriend and start dating you again.
Step 1 – Let go of your ex-girlfriend
Before you begin taking steps closer to your ex’s heart again, you first have to let her go.  While this might hurt, it’s just temporary.  If it helps, keep reminding yourself that you are working toward getting her back, and letting go of her is an important part of that plan.  Getting your ex girlfriend back from another man isn’t something that happens overnight.  By not fighting the break up, you’re refusing to battle with her decision to end things with you.  By not running off to stop her from dating this new guy, you’re showing a level of pride and maturity.  Anything you could say at this point wouldn’t work anyway, so don’t say anything.  You don’t want to come off as needy, jealous, or anything like that – this will hurt your chances of getting your ex back.
Step 2 – Drop back for a while
Leave your girlfriend utterly and completely alone during the honeymoon stages of her relationship.  Don’t call her, text her, email her, or try to run into her either.  Don’t acknowledge her new boyfriend, and don’t respond to any calls or messages from her.  This step of the process requires putting yourself back in her head, and you can’t do that if you’re in constant contact with her.  By disappearing off her social map, your ex will wonder where you are, what you’re doing, and whether or not you’re thinking about her.  Not seeing you will actually make your ex miss you – and this is an important part of winning back her heart.
Step 3 – Focus on yourself
Now that you have some extra free time, use it in the most positive manner possible.  By working on yourself, you can make yourself look, feel, and even act better… do it right, and your ex will be astonished by the new you the next time she sees you.  Go to the gym, take up running… when you start doing all new things you end up meeting new people.  The exercise will help you sweat off any residual feelings of hopeless and despair over losing your girlfriend, and all that stuff will be replaced with positive energy.  When you’re fit and toned, run out and get some new clothes.  A huge part of attracting your girlfriend is physically making yourself desirable to her, but also mentally having the confidence that all girls love.
Step 4 – Wait out her break up
Most rebound relationships last little more than a month.  This is great news for you, because if your ex jumped right into this new romance there’s a good chance she’s in a rebound relationship.  And want some more good news?  The fact that your ex started dating another guy again so quickly after dumping you results in her burying her feelings for you instead of dealing with and getting over them.  This means that somewhere beneath the surface of her heart, there’s a lot of love still left for you.  Finding that love and gently tugging on it can bring it back out into the open, causing your exgirlfriend to think about you, miss you, and want to be with you again.
As much as it hurts to watch your ex with another guy, try to concentrate on the big picture.  In the long run, you’ll be the one standing next to her.  There’s not much you can do right now, so don’t blow things by trying to talk her out of dating her new boyfriend, bad mouthing him, or any of that jealous boyfriend stuff.  Stick it out, and wait for the rebound relationship to invariably fail.
Step 5 – Pick Her Up When She Falls
When a rebound relationship breaks up, more often than not it’s the girl who gets hurt.  When your ex girlfriend has a new boyfriend, she’s probably treating the romance as a solid, concrete thing.  When it shatters?  You’ll need to be there to help pick up the pieces of her broken relationship.  She’ll be looking for someone familiar and safe – and that’s you.  Your ex will find comfort in meeting, talking to, and being in your arms again after a bad rebound, so be prepared to play that role.
Another huge advantage: your ex-girlfriend still has feelings of love for you.  She had little or no time to resolve your break up, because she jumped right into another relationship.  This is where you’ll draw out those emotions and use them to win her back.
What if her new relationship doesn’t break up?  How can I get her back?
Occasionally, a rebound relationship will stick for some time.  If this is the case, you’ll need to learn an alternative strategy to getting your ex back from another man.  There are some very unique ways you can insert yourself between your ex and her new boyfriend, and then slowly win her back from this new guy.  They take patience and effort, but they’re also guaranteed to work.  These methods require you to do things in a very subtle way, so that your ex-girlfriend doesn’t entirely realize what you’re doing… but in the end, they’ll put her back in your arms.

President Goodluck Jonathan holds meeting without his shoes

Pictured above is President Goodluck Jonathan holding a Strategic meeting with his staff prior to The US-Africa Summit in Washing DC.
He allegedly took off his shoes when the meeting got intense.
Goodluck Jonathan would always be remembered for his declaration speech in 2014 where he disclosed that he had no shoes in his teenage days.
“I was not born rich, and in my youth, I never imagined that I would be where I am today, but not once did I ever give up…in my early days in school, I had no shoes, no school bags. I carried my books in my hands but never despaired; no car to take me to school but I never despaired. There were days I had only one meal but I never despaired. I walked miles and crossed rivers to school every day but I never despaired.” he stated then.

TERRIBLE: Houseboy kills boss’ 78-year-old mother in Lagos (PICTURED)

A teenage houseboy, Hounvenou Yavine, a national of Republic of Benin, has been arrested by the Police for the gruesome murder of his boss’ mother, Mrs. Mariam Abiola at Ijaiye Low Cost Housing Estate, Pen Cinema, Lagos.
Hounvenou whose daily duties include the house chores, selling alcoholic drinks at his boss’ shop and tending to the old woman committed the act without thinking twice.
According to reports, the suspect was home alone with the deceased when he slit her throat and killed her.
Hounvenous was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court on one count of murder.
The charge reads, “That you, Hounvenou Yavine, on July 1, 2014 at Ijaiye Low Cost Housing Estate, Pen Cinema, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one Mariam Abiola, aged 78 years, by stabbing her with a knife on her throat and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”
The police prosecutor, Inspector Asup Feddy, applied for the remand of the defendant in prison pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
He said, “The defendant has actually confessed to the crime and the knife he used in committing the crime has been taken as an exhibit.”
The defence counsel, Imelda Adebambo, however appealed to the court to conduct a preliminary enquiry into the matter, adding that the alleged exhibit had not been recovered by the police.
The matter was adjourned till September 8, 2014 for legal advice.
