Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Ellen Degenerees,Others Support Gay Marriage As Arguments Begin In Supreme Court.
Left to Right: Beyonce and her note The Supreme Court hearings on California's Prop 8, a ban on same-sex marriage, began on Tuesday. As a result, celebrities have joined marriage equality supporters by posting red versions of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) logo on their Facebook pages. The HRC is Washington's leading gay rights advocacy group. Beyonce showed her support by posting a handwritten note on her Facebook page using the lyrics of her song 'single ladies'. The singer wrote: 'If you like it you should be able to put a ring on it,' the 31-year-old pop diva wrote along with the hashtag: 'WeWillUniteForMarriageEquality.' She also added added: 'It's about TIME!!! #EQUALITY #MarryWhoYouLove'. Kim Kardashian also lent her voice in advocacy saying: "Equality for all. It's that simple. #prop8". 53 year old comedienne Ellen Degenerees, who is openly gay and married to 40 year old actress Portia De Rossi posted this on instagram: "Today I'm thinking of the Supreme Court," DeGeneres wrote on her Facebook page. "I hope they remember what makes our country great, and support equality for all." Singer Madonna, celebrity chef Padma Laskmi, actress Felicity Hofman and others have also joined in the campaign.
