Pictures: Miss World Transgender Beauty Pageant In Thailand

The finals of the 2012 Miss International Queen competition  took place in Thailand on Friday 2nd November 2012. I'm sure the name of the Pageant looks like any normal one, so whats the big deal, you may ask? The big deal is that all the contestants of this pageant are men, or "were". This is because all the people you see in the pictures are transgender. Yes, they are all men, who went through surgical procedures to alter their looks to look like women. Crazy? almost unbelievable? I thought so too. This annual beauty pageant for transvestites and transgender males saw contestants from around the world battling for the crown. The event is fashioned after the Miss World beauty pageant — with the exception that each of the contestants has to have been born male. The rules state that the contestants must show proof of their natural gender through birth certificates or a doctor's verification. For the records Nigeria's representative Miss Sahhara was first runner-up at the competiton last year.
At the end of a very colorful evening, transgender Kevin Balot of the Philippines was crowned Miss International Queen 2012. He? she? Balot burst into tears upon hearing she was the winner and was given the crown by her predecessor Panvilas Mongkol of Thailand. Balot won $13,000 US in prize money as well as a shiny trophy and gifts. See pictures of the competition below.
